Portrait or Personal Image - Cheryl A Quigley

Witness a field of racing thoroughbreds, unquestionable icons of power, speed, and courage. But the unlikely quality that Cheryl Ann Quigley most often sees when watching a race is the quiet quality of grace. Grace has been defined as elegance of form, manner, motion, or action. And this is what Cheryl sees and captures so beautifully in her images. Her portfolio of horse racing imagery is emotionally balanced -- we sense the pulsating speed of a race, but also its subtle flow; we see the confidence of the jockey, but also the whisper of his vulnerability.

Cheryl studied photography at the University of New Haven in Connecticut and first honed her talents as a documentary photographer. Later she developed a strong interest in photographing "things that go." This led her first to wildlife photography and finally to the world of horse racing.

Cheryl uses her art to support several of the thoroughbred rescue and retirement organizations listed on the Links page. Samples of her published work are shown on the Galleries page under Photo Credits.
